The Huawei Mate X is starting to be available in China. The opportunity to discover its conditions of use, and in particular the price to replace its screen: about 1000 dollars.
The year 2019 was marked by the arrival of the first generation of folding smartphones, especially the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X.
After a presentation at the beginning of the year, the latter finally began its marketing in China, where it was out of stock after a few minutes.
For the moment, these devices are closer to the luxury object, in the true sense of the word, than to the consumer smartphone, with a very high purchase price of 17,000 yuan in China, or about 2,200 euros excluding VAT for the Mate X.
Huawei has announced on its website the price of repairs according to the component to be replaced. Not surprisingly,
it is the folding screen that costs a lot of money since it will be charged 7,080 yuan, or about 900 euros, which is a little more expensive than the full Apple iPhone 11.
This is the price charged by the after-sales service directly, thus integrating the price of the component, but also the labour to change it.
The other components of the smartphone are more traditional, and therefore at a more reasonable price: 278 yuan for the battery (about 35 euros), 361 yuan for the chassis (about 45 euros) or 698 yuan for the photo module (about 90 euros).
As with Samsung, it is therefore important to take particular care of the device and avoid any problems, especially with the display.
Remember that at Huawei, the screen is always visible on the outside since the smartphone only integrates the foldable screen: unfolded in tablet mode, or folded outwards in smartphone mode.
