Google has announced the end of its Cloud Print printing service. Don’t worry, the closure is scheduled for the end of 2020.
Google regularly sorts through its services to close some of them, to the point where talking about Google’s cemetery has become a common joke.
A new example is the closure of Google Cloud Print. The giant announces that the service will be unavailable as of December 31, 2020.
A Practical Service
The Google Cloud Print service made it possible, as its name suggests, to launch remote printing, but also to improve the compatibility of devices such as smartphones and chromebooks with printers.
Google recommends returning to a native printing solution, i.e. with the printer connected to the local network or directly to the device.
The company promises that the experience on Chrome OS has improved enough that Cloud Print is no longer a necessity.
Google Cloud Print was a particularly convenient service that made it possible to modernize any printer by making it accessible from anywhere.
